Food + Service Assistant
We’re looking for a Food and Service Assistant to join the team at Sacred Grounds. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys both food prep and great hospitality – and it’s also an excellent pathway into coffee. You’ll prepare made-to-order food and cold drinks – from sandwiches and breakfast bowls to pasties, smoothies, and juices – while also supporting the wider team on the floor. You’ll take customer orders at the till, run out food and drinks, and keep the café flowing smoothly. When food orders come in, you’ll step into the prep area to make them, before returning to the front of house. You’ll be encouraged to learn about coffee and, when it’s quiet, to practise on bar – several of our baristas started in this role.
£14.80/hr (London Living Wage)
Part-time, 2-3 days per week (15-25 hours)
Must be available Thursdays
Typical shifts: 07:30-16:30 weekdays, 09:30-18:30 weekends

Key Responsibilities

Prepare all food orders, including sandwiches, breakfast bowls, avocado toast, and heated pasties

Make smoothies and fresh juices to order

Take customer orders at the till and deliver food and drinks to tables

Monitor the KDS and fulfil food orders promptly and accurately

Maintain the food prep area, keeping it stocked, rotated, and clean

Replenish grab-and-go items when needed

Support the team with customer service, table clearing, and dishwashing during quieter moments
About You

Confident and friendly, with strong customer service skills

Comfortable balancing food prep with front-of-house duties

Well organised with good time management, even during busy periods

Knowledgeable about food hygiene and committed to cleanliness

Collaborative and adaptable, happy to switch between tasks as needed

Interested in learning about coffee and developing barista skills – this role can be a natural step into a barista position
